If you’re having BBQ for a quick weekend lunch, you can use hummus as a special dip or meat topping to add some creative and mouth-watering Middle-eastern flavors!


Barbecue Hummus Recipe

The light flavor of hummus is a perfect match for the smokey taste of barbecue. You can use it with all types of meat. That includes beef, pork, chicken, turkey, lamb, and so on. You’ll only need a few ingredients:

  • 1 cup of hummus — we recommend Ribella Hummus Natural for the most authentic flavor. Alternatively, use Ribella Hummus Spicy or Ribella Hummus Shiitake.
  • Onions — you can use sliced spring onions, ramps, or any other type that you prefer.
  • Sliced cherry tomatoes
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp sea salt
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

Serving Tips

The first step is to mix all of the ingredients together in a bowl. After that, you can get creative and try our barbecue hummus recipe in various ways! If you’re making beef burgers, chicken breasts, sausages or steak you can spread the hummus over the meat as soon as you take it off the grill. You’ll notice that the hummus is completely different compared to your regular BBQ sauce! Then, just combine the hummus and the meat with burger buns, fresh or grilled vegetables, salads, or similar.


Moreover, you could also serve the hummus in small bowls and then dip your BBQ into it. Here, we recommend pita bread, fresh lettuce, pickles, or red onions.
